Machines, their origins and their uses

The Arrow Trebuchet of Villard de Honnecourt

trébuchet à flèches

The trebuchet which one generally knows is made for launching of the stone balls. Villard de Honnecourt, architect of XIIIe century which left us interesting books, designed a trebuchet for launching arrows or javelins. The principle remains that of the lever and the counterweight, but the mast must precisely reach the end of the arrow or the javelin. The size of the model presented here was reduced so that you can make it function yourself, under the supervision of an organizer.
