The Bastion

bastille

The bastille is a machine of attack and defense: it protects the lines from besieging and cuts the access of the food and ramparts with besieged. Those build bastilles to hold the remote adversary, to take it side or with reverse, to make more difficult the approach of their walls.

It is a provisional dry stone or wood construction, of square form; the punt forms crenelated receives machines of jet and archers.
